Copper Tubes
Copper is a resistant material that it is not subject to thermal expansion.
Tecra sells a wide range of raw and annealed copper tubes for different applications. They are supplied both in coils, whose lenght is 50 m, and in rods; they are bare or PVC covered depending on the use:
- smooth PVC coated (black or white) for automotive or industrial installations and for plumbing and drinking water systems;
- coated with a smooth yellow polyvinylchloride (PVC) sheath;
- coated with a yellow stellar LDPE (Polyethylene) sheat sub-floor systems of domestic gas networking;
- pre-insulated copper pipe with seamless Pe foam sheath, specific for heating systems;
- annealed in coils and raw in rods for plumbing and heating, air conditioning and refrigeration purposes.
The difference between raw and annealed copper tubes is the fact that the second one is more malleable and it can deform more easily; in fact, thanks to a specific process it becomes softer.
Copper tubes are frequently used in plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, heating and conditioning, gas transportation (medical gases included), cryogenic and compressed air systems. It is also widely used in healthcare because it is a very safe material. To complete the system, copper or brass fittings and couplings can be added.
Copper tubes consists of pure copper (99.9) with the addition of other elements in small quantities to create several alloys; the most common of them is BRASS.
Copper products that Tecra sells are available in ITS Cu-DHP 99.90 min. (pure copper), ITS Cu-DHP CW0204A or ACR Cu-DHP CW0204A.
ITS stand for plumbing use, on the other hand ACR means suitable for conditioning and refrigeration uses.
More precisely, Cu-DHP CW024A (Deoxidized High residual Phosphorus) is an alloy without oxigen, but with an high level of phosphorus (0,015% – 0,04%) to prevent oxidation. Its main properties are: excellent ability of welding and brazing; resistant to embrittlement caused by hydrogen, corrosive substances such as sea air, industrial and drinking water, water vapor, salt solutions, some acid (non oxidizing) and alkaline substances; it is not resistant to ammonia solutions, cyanide, hydrogen sulfid, sea water and oxidizing acids. It perfectly deforms during cold and hot processes.
This type is used in the architectural and plumbing field, for oil pipelines, flexible tubes, heat exchangers and air-conditioning units.
